Blog Update

I realized Classic-Bricks is still in it’s infancy and a no-name blog for that matter. I am trying to get as many as followers as possible, so keep that in mind. But I am very busy as well.

Moreover, I will be continuing the great Interview series (I have a great lineup for you). I will also keep posting random things centering around the LEGO universe. I will also be starting a new series called the Weekly Scoop. The Weekly Scoop will be a post every Saturday about something interesting involving LEGO. It could be news, MOCs, reviews, etc.

Thank You,

Brickington

LEGO Batman 2 coming to Wii U

The video game, LEGO Batman 2, is coming to Wii U this Spring. Hey who needs to read my words when you can just see the official press release:

LEGO Batman 2: DC Super Heroes will take advantage of the innovative Wii U™ GamePad controller. Players will navigate through Gotham City using an enhanced interactive map and select their favorite DC Comics characters to assemble a powerful team of heroes, all with the use of the controller’s touchscreen. They can even enjoy the entire game experience on the GamePad in off-TV mode, or have a second player join in on the TV, so they can fight crime together without having to share a single screen.

The award-winning LEGO Batman 2: DC Super Heroes gives players the chance to step into the shoes of the Caped Crusader and fully explore a LEGO version of Gotham City. Once again under threat from the Joker, Batman must defend Gotham with the help of powerful friends like Superman and Robin, to put a stop to the diabolical plans of his nemesis and his entire team of super villains including Lex Luthor, The Penguin and Harley Quinn. Encounter all of the Dark Knight’s iconic allies and enemies in a charming, hilarious, family-friendly adventure full of exciting gameplay.

Hm, not to shabby is it?

The Future of LEGO Pirates

Recently, there has been some talk about the future of LEGO Pirates. All talk of this matter usually leads to disappointment. Last year everyone would yell “2013 is the year of pirates!” But now we clearly see that we won’t get pirate sets this year. However, we are getting a Lord of the Rings Corsair Ship this year. Although not what pirate fans wanted, it is better than nothing.

The Collectible Minifigure Series has given us some pirate figs. Series 8 which was released in the middle of last year gave us a Pirate Captain and Conquistador. Although the Conquistador is an awesome fig, it is highly unlikely it will be released in a set or have a theme of it’s own. The Pirate Captain is different however. The Pirate Captain would make a great protagonist for a new LEGO Pirate theme. It would fit well with TLG’s idea of making sets for boys around the age of 8 and 10. The Pirate Captain is flashy and looks like a gold lover. And there is now a bluecoat that will be released in Series 10, and it looks promising. Not only does this new fig have new torso, but a new white wig that LEGO fans around  the world have been waiting for. If there is going to ever be a new pirates them, it will probably have the torso and/or the wig of this new bluecoat. However, these mini-fig will probably never have a theme to call it’s own. The reason for that is Pirates of the Caribbean.

LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean has replaced the Classic Pirate theme we have all grown to know and love. Although not a major success as it was thought to be, LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean is probably our best chance to get new pirate theme. But we will have to wait because if we do get more sets, they will probably come with Potc 5 which will be released in  July 2015.

Although the most probable chance of getting some more pirate sets will be with Potc 5, you should never give up hope. Who knows? TLG may have a short little pirate theme just before Potc 5. This little theme may just last a year, but at-least that’s something. My advice to those who want pirate sets is to just go buy some off bricklink and eBay because it’s going to be a long wait for new pirate sets.

New Lotr Pictures!

There as been pictures of the new LEGO Lord of the Rings set popping all over the internet! Here are the new sets:

This set was an expected one. I am glad TLG (The LEGO Group) is going to make a small set for we can get our little greedy hands on a ever-so awesome Saruman. However, I believe I speak for everyone when I say that I am disappointed with Saruman’s staff. But hey, at $12.99 we get two awesome figs and an eye of Sauron.

I think TLG did a great job on this set. We get some new torsos and an awesome Elrond fig. Plus, I am happy to see lots of gold pieces. And there’s even more! When I looked at this set my eyes went right to those leaves pieces. They are multi-colored and they will make great pieces for a fall scene moc. At only $29.99, I’m not letting this great set get out of my sight!

This set is probably my favorite one of the bunch. We get a new Aragorn Gondor torso that I will try to get many of. I wonder does this new Gondor torso mean that there are more Gondor torsos to come? Then we have Gandalf who looks strangely like Saruman. Next we have the scary looking Mouth of Sauron and those two Orcs. Not much to say on the three.  But then we have that ugly looking eagle. Man is that a horrible mold. That is probably the only letdown on this set. Ass for the gate itself, I think it’s pretty good. However, for mocing I don’t see anyone needing that many black pieces. At $59.99, I think most of us will get this set.

I have mixed feelings about this set. As a LEGO Pirate fan, I’m screaming: A Ship! A Ship! It’s not to bad as a set in all it’s decent glory. We get a new Legolas Greenleaf, which is a plus. We get a mini-fig of Peter Jackson which is weird. And we get those ghost guys (okay, I get it, their dead but not ghost). I am pretty neutral on them. But as an Avalonian in Eurobrick’s Guilds of Historica, the dead guys’ sand green helmet should be useful. As for the ship itself, I’ll let you guys do the C&C. This set will be $99.99 making it the expensive guy of the bunch.
